New Photos

So I had a bunch of work shot with my photographer Mark.   He as always is the MAN!  Its kinda a bit of smorgishborg of work.  Some peices that are part of my Wood Doodle series a couple tables.  I like tables its weird I know and a couple glass and wood peices.
Enjoy

And the Thunder

The peice is back lit here with two gheto tap lights but ideally I would build a little light box in the wall it was mounted on.

I will update my website eventually but it always takes a little while and I sort of hate doing it.   Blog posts are much simplier.   There is one more peice I got shot but I think I only have a TIFF at the moment so that will get posted later.   In general I am proud of doing something remotely productive on thanksgiving.   But now I can succumb to my Turkey induced coma.

Unemployment suits me

So for those of you that don't know this I am running away to Mexico for the winter and am applying to grad school for next fall.  In order to do both of those things I quit my job.  Apparently unemployment suits me.   Go figure, below is an assortment of things I made progress on yesterday and today.  Two end tables, one stained with teak oil, the other with Danish . . . it is a pretty similar finish teak is a touch darker. (first image)  Then there is a wall mounted wood and glass sculpture and a wall mounted pine and plywood sculpture and a pine and plywood drawing I guess.  I will have better photos soon; I am seeing my photographer next week.

This piece is going to be called "And The Thunder" or Psychedelic Ant Farm

This is the first finished 2/d peice I have made since maybe my freshman year of college

So I like Clamps a lot.

So I have been making these pine and plywood lamination peices at work as sorta an excercise in doodlying in wood, but they are looking like they will end up being funiture, I also have some ideas for some sculptural shelves and things.  The whole series sorta started when I needed to make a thank you gift for my buddy who downloaded me like 6 months of audio books making work much more enjoyable and my trying to find ways to use some of the truely horrifying amount of scrap we produce at my job.  Also I have been tryign to take more pictures of things in process.  Mostly so I will have more things to bore all the people who don't read my blog, which I don't update often enough anyway.

This is a series of peices in progress.
This will eventually sort of match the more finished table you will see in a few more images

Table top early stages

table leg step 1

Table leg step... let see.  Cut plywood, laminate plywood, drill holes with forstner bit, cut laminated plywood glue in strips of pine
Step 5 table leg

I don't think the legs are actually attached in these shots but oh well,  I used screws and 1/2 dowls to cover the screws, so five half in circles per leg, matching the five 2 circles in the legs.  Sort of anyway.  In theory the first image will match this table in height and size, and get the same legs but with the ratio of pine to plywood switched.

Two process shots for next peice

These last two peices are both, Pine, Plywood and Cast glass and end up on the wall eventually
